I’m going to talk a bit about clean beauty care products, because I care.
I was in my mid 30’s….nearly 10 years ago now. And the night sweats started. The mood changes broke me down. Fatigue. Rashes.
I don’t want to go into all the details here. You can read some of that story in as it relates to Estrogen Dominance in a previous blog post here (and ladies, it matters in your 30’s and even can make the transition into Peri-Menopause and Menopause that much smoother). Basically, I was heading into peri-menopause, waaayyyy too early.
That experience sent me on an exploratory process to get where I am today. At that time, to figure out my own issues (and eventually help others), I started learning about hormone disruption. I even completed an entire two year certification program on it.
Because if you’ve ever worked with me, you know I go all in. I don’t leave it at your symptoms, but try to discover the why behind it. I do the same for myself. Through my program I learned evidence-based information about diet, genetics and lifestyle that influence our hormonal systems.
I learned about toll that our neuroendocrine system takes due to chemicals in our personal products, cooking utensils and food storage, and home cleaning products. Not to mention, stress and outlook on life.
So, I cleaned up my diet. Adding some missing nutrients and protein. Carving out sugars and caffeine.
I eliminated plastics in our food storage, switching to all glass. And wood cooking utensils.
I tossed out all the colored and scented soaps and bathroom and kitchen cleansers.
And I searched and searched for personal care products that I could trust. There are some out there in the retail stores that are “better” than most. But still, when you look down on their list and see, “Fragrance” or “Natural,” you start to wonder.
Those terms are illusive. Companies don’t have to disclose what is in their Fragrance or what their Natural ingredients are. That is where we are with the FDA.
There are only 30 chemicals on the no-use list in the USA. In France they ban 1400! Many of these chemicals are questionable in their safety and their effects on hormone disruption.
So, when I found #Beautycounter recently, I was thrilled. Finally, a company and a product line I could trust. #Beautycounter has a Never List of 1800 chemicals you will never find in their products.
And they are transparent about what they have in their products, how they source their products and how they test them. So you don’t have to guess anymore.
So thrilled, because I care:
✅Because I care about what I put IN and ON my body, for health and well-being.
✅Because I care about what my family and my clients put’s IN and ON their bodies.
✅Because I care about conscious companies that advocate for my safety and the wellbeing of the planet.
Yes, not only does #Beautycounter provide a superb product line of makeup and personal care items, they also take their message to Congress and are fighting for transparency in ingredient labelling, as well as working towards having more chemicals banned from the list of approved substances.
While I was planning to just sit by and order products and be on my merry way, I didn’t. I became a consultant for #Beautycounter. And I couldn’t be more proud to be a supporter of a company that cares about humans, as much as the planet.
